Instructions for Online Submission
- Proposals must be submitted online through 2025 TEXAAN Conference | Call for Proposal form. It is recommended to review a copy of the form before submitting your proposal, so you know what information will be needed. Click here to view the form.
- Complete all fields in the application. In the fields that do not apply, please put N/A or “does not apply.” Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
- Submit all information in plain text. Avoid using bullets or other special characters.
- List only presenters and co-presenters who will be attending the conference and making the presentation.
- Presentation titles should be descriptive of the content of the session. They need not reflect the title of the conference.
- Submit a 130-word that accurately describes the content and focus of your presentation. The abstract will be published in the conference app should your proposal be accepted.
- Be specific in your proposal on the interaction that will take place in your session. Panels are required to be formed by the person submitting the proposal. They must have a moderator and are expected to represent the perspectives of more than one institution.
- Request only the equipment essential to deliver your session. TEXAAN requires presenters to supply their own laptops.
Terms and Conditions
Before beginning your proposal, understand that you and your co-presenters will be asked to agree to the following terms before submission:
- I have read and agree to the requirements listed in the proposal instructions.
- I understand that all of the presenters listed for this presentation must register and pay the appropriate fees associated with conference attendance by December 20, 2024.
- I understand that all presenters must be available to present on any day of the conference.
- I understand that all presenters will be expected to submit an electronic version of handouts, materials, and/or visual aids used in their session to TEXAAN.
- All of the presenters listed for this presentation attest that all conference presentations and materials are their original work; and/or that they will obtain permission to use any materials that are not their original work and correctly cite the original source(s).
- I will direct any questions and/or concerns about the Call for Proposals process to the Conference Chair (conference@texaan.org).
Session Format Options
- Concurrent Session – 50-minute presentation by one or more presenters. This could include (but not limited to) lectures, panels, and/or demonstrations. Presentations are encouraged to engage attendees provide active participation, discussion, and creativity. This format is eligible for the Best in TEXAAN award.
- Poster Session - a 50-minute visual showcase where presenters use a bulletin display to highlight programmatic approaches or research findings, while sharing information and answering questions in a come-and-go format.
- Roundtable Discussion - a 30-minute session promoting open discussion on significant issues or themes, where facilitators encourage participation, and attendees share ideas and learn from each other. There will not be equipment/technology provided for roundtable discussions.
Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of:
- Timeliness of the subject matter
- Clearly stated purpose and objective
- Adaptability of ideas to a variety of institutional settings
- Topic’s contribution to the advising field
- Reflective of good writing practices
- Creativity in approach or ways to manage a situation
Timeline (updated)
- Call for Proposals Deadline – November 11, 2024 at 11:59pm (CST)
- Notification to Lead Presenter– November 22, 2024
- Confirmation of Acceptance Deadline – December 2, 2024
- Conference Presenter Registration Deadline – December 20, 2024 (selected presenters will be eligible for the early registration rate)
- Presenter Meeting (virtual) – date is to be determined (early February 2025)
- TEXAAN Annual Conference – February 26-28, 2025
Best in TEXAAN Award
The Best in TEXAAN is awarded to a session presented at the annual conference. The award honors the individual(s) whose presentation exemplifies excellence in academic advising, showcasing innovative practices and contributions to student success.
The award recipient(s) will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on Friday, February 28, 2025. The recipient(s) will also have the opportunity to present their session as the best of state for Texas at the NACADA Region 7 Conference in 2026.
