Below are descriptions of the conference activities.  The locations will be included in Whova (the conference app). 

  • Check-in & Registration:  Conference check-in and on-site registration is in the Registration Area outside of the Grand Ballroom on Wednesday (Feb 26) from 11:00am-6:00pm and Thursday (Feb 27) from 7:30am-5:00pm. If you have any questions at any time, please visit the Registration area.  

  • TEXAAN Institutes:  The TEXAAN Institutes are 3-hour interactive workshops on Wednesday (Feb 26) and designed to provide in-depth training on specific topics. These workshops occur prior to the main TEXAAN Conference, offering attendees an opportunity to engage in focused, hands-on learning experiences.  Led by experienced professionals, the institutes cover emerging trends, best practices, and practical strategies to enhance effectiveness and support student success. By addressing targeted areas of interest, the TEXAAN Institutes serve as a valuable resource for professional development, networking, and skill-building.  For more information about the TEXAAN Institutes, click here

  • Presenter Meeting:  Thank you to all our amazing presenters! This meeting is for conference presenters only.  It will be on Wednesday (Feb 26) at 4pm-4:30pm and provide an overview about presenting at the conference, session room technology, and other tips/reminders.  The meeting is led by the Speakers Bureau Chairs.  If you have any questions, please contact conf_speakers@texaan.org

  • Volunteer Meeting:  Thank you to our amazing volunteers!  This meeting is open to anyone interested in volunteering during the conference.  It will be on Wednesday (Feb 26) at 4pm-4:30pm and provide an overview of volunteer opportunities and give details about each assignment. The meeting is led by the Volunteer Committee Chairs.  If you have any questions, please contact conf_volunteers@texaan.org

  • Maximize Your Conference Experience:  If this is your first time attending the conference or if you haven’t been in a while, this session will provide you with information about TEXAAN, how to get involved, and tips on how to get the most out of your conference experience.  This session is on Wednesday (Feb 26) from 4:45pm-5:15pm. 

  • Opening Ceremony with Dinner & TEXAAN Awards Presentation:  The Opening Ceremony is the official kickoff to the conference and will be on Wednesday (Feb 26) from 6pm-8pm.  It will include (but not limited to): Welcome from the Conference Chairs, TEXAAN President’s Address, TEXAAN Awards Presentation, networking, and dinner will be served.  Click here for more information about the TEXAAN Excellence in Academic Advising Awards Program.

  • Wine Down Wednesday:  After the Opening Ceremony, we invite you to join us at the Republic Grill Bar & Restaurant (located in the hotel lobby) to wine down the evening together. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate, and toast to our award recipients. Specialty cocktails will be available at the cash bar.  

  • Fitness & Wellness:  Workout time! This is your opportunity to start the morning with a wellness activity. The sessions will be Thursday (Feb 27) and Friday (Feb 28) from 6am-7am.

  • Region Meetings with Breakfast:  Kick off your Thursday morning with intention! Join us on Thursday (Feb 27) from 8am-8:50am for an inspiring breakfast meeting led by our dedicated Region Chairs. These sessions offer the perfect opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange insights, and explore exciting collaborative opportunities specific to your region.   • Concurrent Sessions 1-5:  Dive into educational concurrent sessions on Thursday (Feb 27) led by subject matter experts in our field, offering a range of topics to match your interests and goals. These sessions provide valuable insights and innovative ideas.  Choose the sessions that inspire you and make the most of this learning opportunity!

    This year we are offering an Administrators’ Track. Designed specifically for administrators, these sessions focus on topics and strategies tailored to leadership and management in advising. Gain insights, share ideas, and explore solutions that address the unique challenges administrators face in higher education.  Non-administrators are welcome to participate in the sessions.  The topics include:

- The Evolution of the Academic Advising Profession

- Moving from Advising-to-Advising Administration

- The Importance of Professional Development and Involvement

- Changing Advising Models, the Experience of Moving to a Professional Advising Model

- Advising Assessment & Goal Setting

  • Choose Your Own Adventure Sessions: Take part in focused roundtable discussions designed for brainstorming, networking, and collaboration on Thursday (Feb 27) from 11am-11:50am and Friday (Feb 28) from 8:30am-9:50am. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to connect with fellow attendees, share best practices, and explore solutions on topics that matter most to you. With dedicated time built into the conference, these discussions are your chance to engage with peers and make meaningful professional connections.

    Take some time to recharge during the Choose Your Own Adventure session on Thursday (Feb 27) from 2:30pm-3pm. Whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert, we’ve got something for everyone with a variety of activities to help you relax and unwind.

  • Lunch & TEXAAN Annual Business Meeting It’s time for lunch and the TEXAAN Annual Business Meeting on Thursday (Feb 27) from 12pm-1:15pm.  The Annual Business Meeting is coordinated and facilitated by the TEXAAN Executive Board.  

  • Advisors After Hours LoungeJoin us on Thursday (Feb 27) at 5pm-6pm as we relax from a day of learning as we kick back and continue to enjoy the company of colleagues. The Advisors After Hours lounge will be complete with refreshments, opportunities to capture TEXAAN memories, and many ways to keep sharing your personal and professional advising narratives.

  • Shared Learning Experience Join us for a brand-new session designed to bring all attendees together in a collaborative space to reflect, share ideas, and learn from one another. The Shared Learning Experience on Friday (Feb 28) at 10am-11am weaves in the conference theme of storytelling and narratives, encouraging participants to reflect on their time at the conference and translate those insights into actionable next steps. Whether you’re new to advising or a seasoned professional, this session offers a unique opportunity to connect, inspire, and grow.

  • Closing Ceremony & Brunch:  Join us on Friday (Feb 28) from 11:15am-12:30pm for brunch as we conclude the conference.  The Best of TEXAAN Award will be announced.
